Environmental protection
The primary goal of environmental protection is to preserve the natural environment in which people live and to protect their health. After all, naturally occurring resources such as water, energy and vital raw materials form the basis of life on our planet and must therefore be protected. To this end, we have committed ourselves in our corporate mission statement to protecting water, soil, air, nature and the climate within the framework of environmental policy and environmental law. Our corporate environmental protection aims to reduce the consumption of vital resources such as energy, water and other important substances and to ensure that these valuable resources are used in an environmentally conscious manner.
Energy management
Hiller Objektmöbel is a customer of the Freiburg-based start-up ENIT Energy IT Systems GmbH, which emerged from a Fraunhofer Institute research project and sells monitoring and control systems for operators of decentralized energy systems to enable their intelligent control. The use of this energy management system creates complete transparency regarding energy consumption and enables savings of 5-20 percent of energy costs through continuous consumption identification. In addition, the company took part in the GAIN project and the Fraunhofer IPA energy flexibility audit in order to identify and evaluate the technical units and energy flows at the Kippenheim site in an analysis. The entire heating system is operated by burning the company's own wood waste. The resulting process heat is used to heat the environmentally friendly paint shop as well as the administration and production facilities. This cycle converts 100% of the wood waste into energy.
The company is also currently undergoing an audit process, the successful completion of which will certify us as a carbon-neutral producer in the future. The switch from diesel to electric forklift trucks is another example of our environmental awareness.
Circularity of product development
The starting point for the development of our products by our in-house development department is the orientation towards the principles of the circular economy. Ideally, the aim is a modular composition so that products, parts and raw materials can be reused as much as possible. When designing our four-legged chair “BLAQ wood”, for example, the aim was to construct it in such a way that it can be completely dismantled using plug-in and screw connections. This means that all components can be replaced and recycled. For example, subsequent additions are also possible, such as retrofitting armrests or panic-proof row locks. We always strive for a timeless design and an exceptionally long life cycle for our products.
Remanufacturing
With our “rethink & refresh” service, we offer our customers the opportunity to revitalize existing furniture and thus sustainably extend the life cycle of the products despite intensive daily use. We deliberately offer this reconditioning and refurbishment at a manageable cost as an economical alternative to buying new furniture.
A question of sustainability
Environmental protection has always played a major role for us. This is demonstrated not only by the environmental prize awarded by the state of Baden-Württemberg to Hiller Objektmöbel GmbH in 1996 for the first water-based UV varnishing system of its kind, but also by the high use of renewable raw materials. Most of the beech wood used comes from the region's forests and is 100 percent sustainably grown. The careful use of resources is firmly anchored in our environmental policy and in the awareness of our employees.
We use resources in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. The production of wood products involves an impact on nature as soon as wood is cultivated and harvested. The timber industry should therefore intervene as little as possible in biologically valuable ecosystems. Through our environmental certifications, we consciously demonstrate the environmentally friendly use of forests and subsequent transparency in terms of processing methods and consider all production processes from an environmental perspective.
The DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 certification successfully achieved by Hiller Objektmöbel includes, among other things, more efficient use of energy and raw materials, waste minimization and targeted risk prevention. In addition, the company management has greater responsibility for environmental management and its integration into business processes. The aim is also to improve environmental performance on the basis of key figures.
Well packaged
Ecological logistics
Ongoing change is a fundamental characteristic of logistics and requires permanent reorientation. As a logistics service provider, SCHNEEWEISS logistik GmbH, a member of the SCHNEEWEISS group of companies, is increasingly bridging greater distances and decentralizing logistics activities as part of the coordination of supply chains by forming hubs throughout Germany. We reduce logistics costs by forming and commissioning regional teams of experts who assemble and install the products on site at the respective branches. Any spare or replacement parts required are delivered by widra logistik GmbH as part of its standard tours, spare parts and minimum stock levels are agreed with the customer and batch sizes are kept in stock - this significantly reduces the amount of project-related logistics services required. These concepts create a logistics network that stretches from the manufacturer to the logistics service provider to the end customer and successfully minimizes transport routes.
The internal logistics service provider's fleet includes the latest generation of TGX MAN semitrailer trucks, equipped with Euro 6d engines. In long-distance transport, this new generation saves up to eight percent fuel compared to the Euro 6c predecessor version. The improved aerodynamics also contribute to this. In addition, “digital applications” support the driver in driving efficiently, which results in a noticeable reduction in fuel consumption.
